JANUARY - FEBRUARY
1. December, January, February tuition is due. The dues are $80. This is the second dues period. Call Mrs. Collins if unsure: (563) 340-6695.
2. Get your fruit delivered promptly. We don't want to lose customers because it has been allowed to freeze or get too warm. Also, check the fruit for spoilage before you deliver it. Turn the box upside-down. Pull the bottom off and sort the fruit back into it as you look for moldy, mushy, or bruised fruit. Tell us how many need to be replaced and we will give them to you at practice. Don't bring the bad ones back unless there is a large amount; then we need to see what's wrong.
2 A. The second fruit sale is starting, but remind you customers that it won't arrive until March. Some people used to say, "Oh, why bother with a second sale?" True, we don't sell as much as the first, but it's still several thousand dollars we wouldn't otherwise have. It will make a big dent in the bus bill. :)
3. We're going to start signing up choirboys right away for the Green Lake Plus; July 17-24. We need at least 40 boys to fill all the cabins. Green Lake Plus will be a week of regular camp; fishing, swimming, boating, ball games, eating; then we will be picked up by bus on the last Saturday and travel to a theme park and stay till closing. On Sunday, we will travel to a Water Park, stay till closing then head for home. This was a blast last year, and the kids really enjoyed it. There will also be room on the St. Louis trip for some of the boys who want to do both.
4. St. Louis trip for Cadets. The St. Louis trip for Cadets will return to its original format this year. 1. Supervised swimming at the hotel, 2. a Broadway-type musical show (not an opera) at the famed Muny Opera of St. Louis, 3. The St. Louis Arch and Gateway to the West museum, 4. Cardinals baseball game, 5. world-class St. Louis Zoo. Date is pending on Cardinal schedule and Muny schedule. It will likely be July 6,7,8.
5. Schedule: We will continue with two rehearsals per week until we get closer to Spring Concert. Try to make one early in the week and one late in the week. Cadets, if you have to miss you may make-up with Concert Choir.
6. Spring Concert is Sunday, May 1, 2011.
7. Patrons: We have donors who like to support the Choir more than just the price of a ticket. These are called Patrons. They donate anywhere from $30 to several hundred dollars to support the programs of the Choir plus have their name printed in the Spring Program. Patrons are traditionally companies, businesses, relatives, and friends. You get points for all the Patrons that you can get to donate in your name.
8. Talk up the Moline Boys Choir to schoolmates, friends, and relatives as we get ready for another recruiting period.
